September 16 - In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?
Prompt Response: Sometimes I feel like an interloper whenever I go to parties. I feel like an outsider when it comes to new people. For example, if I’m with a friend and they ran into their friend group, I’d awkwardly stand there instead of interacting with them. I have trouble socializing or sometimes I put on a mask and act like someone totally different. It starts to make me aware of my actions. I think moments like these can affect relationships. It creates a distance because you start to feel misunderstood or assume others are judging you. I’m never fully engaged due to that.
Summary: Today in class, we did a CommonLit assignment.
Reflection: Today I learned what it’s like to be an interloper.
