September 8 - After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.
Prompt Response: When I was first learning how to roller skate, I taught myself how to do a few simple tricks then and there. They weren’t the cool ones you would see on the internet. After all I was still too little and too scared to attempt to do anything crazy. One day, I built up the courage to try something new. Keep in mind that around this time I was about 7. Little kids always get tempted to do crazy things. The day before I watched someone spin into a backwards skate. I started off slow on the concrete and I gradually began to go a little faster. I managed to pull off the spin, but as soon as I turned to skate backwards, my heel got caught on a crack, causing me to fall and shatter my tailbone.
Summary: Today in class, we analyzed a poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
Reflection: Today I learned about absurdity and how it can drive people to take risks just to prove a point.
