January 6 - In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you

Prompt: Over the break, I got to spend my time with a lot of my family. We drove up to Virginia. One academic goal I want to achieve this year is improving my overall grades, especially in my core classes. This goal is important because strong grades will help me better understand the material and prepare me for future academic opportunities. To achieve this, I will review my notes daily, complete all assignments on time, and attend tutoring or ask my teachers for help at least once a week when needed. By the end of each grading period, I aim to earn at least a B average, with the overall goal of finishing the school year with improved final grades by June. Another goal I want to achieve is improving my time management skills. This is important because managing my time effectively will help reduce stress and allow me to balance school, activities, and personal responsibilities. To work toward this goal, I will use a planner or digital calendar starting this month to track assignments, tests, and deadlines. By the end of the first semester, I plan to consistently complete assignments at least one day before they are due and maintain an organized weekly schedule. I want to achieve this year is becoming a more confident communicator. This goal is important because strong communication skills are useful in school, future careers, and personal relationships. To work toward this goal, I will participate more often in class discussions starting immediately and aim to speak at least once per class each week. I will also practice active listening and ask questions when I need clarification. By the end of December 2026, I expect to feel more confident expressing my thoughts clearly and respectfully. A personal goal I want to achieve this year is improving my physical health and overall fitness. This goal is important because staying healthy helps me feel more energetic, focused, and confident. To reach this goal, I will exercise at least three times a week starting in February 2026, whether by walking, working out at home, or participating in a sport. I will also make healthier food choices by limiting sugary snacks and drinking more water each day. By August 2026, I expect to notice improved stamina and healthier daily habits.

Summary: Today in class we worked on a writable assignment.

Reflection: Today in class we identified four goals we would like to achieve.

August 11 - Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt Response: This summer, I spent almost my entire summer break at the beach. In June, I flew to Honduras and in July I went to Florida, but that's not the point. Every time we drove to the beach, I could feel my heart beating fast. Not because I was anxious, but because of the excitement rushing through my body. Walking on the sand felt like I was finally at peace and I could feel the cool summer breeze comforting me. When I felt the salty ocean water brush through my feet, I felt a connection to it. I could see the leaves of the palms dancing around as the wind blew on them. Whenever I laid on the sand, I felt the sun kiss my back, leaving it bronze. Being raised by the coast had created harmony between me, the beach, and its elements. By the time I realized it was time to leave, I could only hope to be able to stay longer or even visit again another time.  Summary: Today in class, we took notes on Native American literature. Reflection:  In class, I learned what the dif...

August 12 - Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Prompt Response: When I was little, I remember always wearing the same dress almost everywhere. I went to parties with it, I went out to eat with it, I even wore it at home just to be able to see myself in it. A lot of times people say that it's normal for little kids to carry an obsession with a strange item, but that dress was genuinely meaningful to me. I was mesmerized at how the vibrant shade of purple and pearly white blended so perfectly together. This dress wasn't just precious because of how pretty and puffy it was, but because of the memories it held. I wore it to a relative's graduation, I went to plenty of important dinner reservations, and other important events. In almost every picture I have, no matter the time, the occasion, and the place, I was always seen wearing the same dress. I say it carries a story because of how I only really wore it during special occasions. It can also tell the kind of kid I was, in a particular period, during my childhood. Summa...

December 17 - As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt Response:  As the first semester comes to an end, my knowledge in literature has grown a lot. I liked the poetry topic the most. Some poems are very deep and I've made many connections to them. So far, every project we've done has been very interesting and I have found them engaging. The presentation part of it isn't my favorite. The assignments are fun and easy. When we do them as a class, I get ideas and different opinions from others as well. The blog posts are also helpful. They help me think and analyze. Summary: Today in class we presented our final project. Reflection: Today I learned about other people's poems.
