Prompt Response:  When I was little, I had a huge fear of roller coasters. I would pass on going to places like SixFlags and the fair. The only reason I was scared of them was because of the accidents that were transmitted on the news. One day my siblings tricked me into going. They said we would be going to the zoo, but instead we ended up at SixFlags. We started off with the smallest rides to get me used to the rides since it was my first time on them. The first one wasn't even big and I kid you not, I passed out on it. When the ride was over, I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought It would be. The helped me build courage for the bigger rides. Summary: Today in class, we identified claims in a passage. Reflection:  Today I learned how to organize my classes for college. 

Prompt Response:  A topic that I think I'll have to stand up or debate most often, with society, is social justice. Whether it's human rights, free speech, or equality. I'll always be in favor of these. Political views like presidents and government, not so much. And though they're really important, I'd rather not speak about them because we all choose to believe what we want. I've always thought political views like these, were kinda like religions. Except religious beliefs provide a comprehensive moral and spiritual worldview, and politics focus on the organization of a society, but they both consist of beliefs. Religion and belief systems are also another topic I'll stand up for. We all have the freedom to choose our own paths. Summary: Today in class, we took notes on claims. Reflection:  Today I learned the different types of claims.

Prompt Response:  Something I was afraid to accept was that no matter how much or what you do, you don't always get what you want. I used to be friends with this one girl last year. Our friendship was already broken but I did the impossible to keep our friendship. I would buy her gifts and go places, thinking it would make her feel better. It got to the point where I had to embarrass myself just to make her stay. I had other friends telling me I was dumb for letting her walk all over me. I later realized that it wasn't worth going through all that trouble for someone who didn't even want to be my friend. Though I was pretty hurt about the situation, I ended up dropping her.  Summary: Today in class, we took notes about the three types of rhetorical devices. Reflection:  Today I learned the difference between logos, pathos, and ethos.

Prompt Response:  My freshman year, I was put into a class where I didn't know anyone. Everyone there seemed to get along very well. I looked forward to going to every class, but that one. I barely talked in the class, unless it was necessary. One day, our teacher put us into groups of 4. Everyone in my group divided the work equally, but left me with the least work. I tried giving them ideas because I didn't want them thinking I was leaving them with everything, but they ignored me or looked at me weird. At some point I was told by one of them, that I didn't look like the type to take stuff like that seriously. While it did hurt me a little, I didn't say anything back and stayed quiet after that. They judged me based on how quiet I was, not my ethical work and ability.  Summary: Today in class, we completed a Common Lit assignment. Reflection:  Today I learned about what fear can teach us.

Prompt Response:  If I was learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the first time, I’d want to know about the origin. As a hispanic, our culture is very diverse. Our people don’t always appear the same. We have afro-latinos, tan-skinned, sometimes there’s people who have colored eyes and light hair, and others have slim eyes like the ones asians inherit. For example, white/caucasians almost always have the same features. Fair skin, colored eyes and light hair. So I would want to know where it all really began. Could it be results to years of interracial interactions?  Summary: Today in class, we took notes on how to write a thesis statement.  Reflection:  Today I learned to define things that were overrated.

Prompt Response:  Sometimes I feel like an interloper whenever I go to parties. I feel like an outsider when it comes to new people. For example, if I’m with a friend and they ran into their friend group, I’d awkwardly stand there instead of interacting with them. I have trouble socializing or sometimes I put on a mask and act like someone totally different. It starts to make me aware of my actions. I think moments like these can affect relationships. It creates a distance because you start to feel misunderstood or assume others are judging you. I’m never fully engaged due to that. Summary: Today in class, we did a CommonLit assignment. Reflection:  Today I learned what it’s like to be an interloper.

Prompt Response:  After viewing all of my classmates' poem posters, I thought everyone’s was creative. I liked the one about making good spaghetti the most. I’m pretty sure it was by Elliot. But It really caught my attention because it talked about how you don't have to play by the book to find yourself. The poem had almost nothing to do with the actual topic of being yourself, but it still gave great themes. The poster itself was very detailed and creative. The poem's structure was really good as well. It contained a lot of detail and I was able to understand it pretty well. The extended metaphor was compared to something irrelevant, but yet it still made sense.  Summary: Today in class, we presented our poem posters. Reflection:  Today I learned how to brainstorm and the steps in the writing process.
